How to choose an ice maker
Our ice makers come in two styles: countertop nugget ice makers that do nothing but make ice, and water coolers with a built-in ice maker that give you drinking water and ice from one unit. None of them need a drain.
Countertop nugget ice makers
Nugget ice, sometimes called chewable or pellet ice, is soft and crunchy and soaks up the flavor of your drink. The Avalon A-ICE and A-ICE2 countertop nugget ice makers each make up to 38 lb a day and hold up to 5.5 lb in the drawer. They stand about 16.7 inches tall and deep, so measure under your cabinets first.
Water tank or water line
The A-ICE fills from a 1 gallon side tank, so it needs no plumbing at all. The A-ICE2 is a nugget ice maker with a water line: it refills itself automatically and filters the water through NSF-certified dual stage filters, so nobody has to top off a tank.
Water cooler with ice maker
A water dispenser with an ice maker saves counter space in a break room or kitchen. The A20-B is a bottom load water cooler that runs on a 3 or 5 gallon jug, and the A21-B is a bottleless water cooler that connects to your water line and filters it. Both pour hot, cool and cold water, make up to 22 lb of bullet ice a day and use UV-LED self-cleaning.
Cleaning and descaling
The nugget ice makers run a built-in self-cleaning cycle. Hard water leaves scale over time, so descale regularly with Avalon's citric acid descaler, listed with our water cooler accessories.

Nugget ice is made from compressed ice flakes, so it is soft, chewable and soaks up the flavor of your drink. It is sometimes called pellet or chewable ice.
Do I need a water line for an ice maker?
Not always. The A-ICE fills from a 1 gallon tank and the A20-B uses a water jug. The A-ICE2 and A21-B connect to a water line so they refill themselves.
Do these ice makers need a drain?
No. None of the four ice makers we carry need a drain.
What is a water dispenser with an ice maker?
It is a water cooler with a built-in ice maker, so one unit gives you hot, cool and cold water plus ice. Avalon makes a bottom load version, the A20-B, and a bottleless version, the A21-B.
How do I clean a nugget ice maker?
Run the built-in self-cleaning cycle and descale regularly with a citric acid descaler, especially if you have hard water. Follow the steps in your model's user guide.

Yes. Shipping is free on every ice maker, and most orders ship directly from the manufacturer's U.S. warehouse with tracking. We only collect sales tax on orders shipped to Georgia.
